South Carolina Stingrays News Release

TOLEDO, Ohio - Kris Bindulis knocked home a rebound in front of the net to give the South Carolina Stingrays (36-12-6-1) a 2-1 win over the Toledo Walleye (39-14-3-2) in the final minute of overtime on Saturday night at the Huntington Center.

Parker Milner saved 25 shots and was outstanding for the Stingrays to earn his 19th victory of the year while Joe Devin scored his team-leading 17th goal of the season on the power play in the first period.

Toledo got out in front 1-0 with a power play goal for the second straight night, this time by Shane Berschbach at 6:58 of the opening frame.

The Stingrays responded with a power play goal of their own by Devin. He tied things up at 1-1 during a 5-on-3 power play with assists from Taylor Cammarata and Steven Whitney.

Neither team was able to score a goal in both the second or third period, and the game headed to overtime.

Milner came to the rescue at 2:07 of the extra period, stopping Toledo defenseman Ryan Obuchowski on a penalty shot to keep his team in the game.

Bindulis provided the OT winner for the second time this season, scoring with just 28 seconds remaining in the extra period for his fourth goal of the year. Forward Hampus Gustafsson brought the puck up ice down the right wing after a lead pass by Steven Whitney. Gustafsson got a shot on net that was stopped by Toledo goaltender Pat Nagle, but the rebound came back to the front of the cage for Bindulis, who slammed it home to win the game.

The Stingrays are now 6-6 during 3-on-3 overtime this season. With the victory, South Carolina is one point away from clinching a spot in the 2018 Kelly Cup Playoffs and can secure their place in the postseason with a win over extra-time loss in Greenville on Tuesday night.

Nagle stopped 19 shots for the Walleye in a losing effort. Toledo outshot SC 26-21 in the contest while both teams finished the game at 1-for-4 on the power play.

The Stingrays meet Greenville on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. inside the Bon Secours Wellness Arena and then return home to face the Swamp Rabbits in North Charleston on Friday at 7:05.
