Americans End Streak, Beat Rapid City 5-2

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, ended their losing streak at four games by beating the Rapid City Rush on Friday night by a score of 5-2 at Allen Event Center.
Connor Reilly opened the scoring for the Americans, scoring his second goal of the season to put the Americans up 1-0 at 5:54 of the first period. Miles Liberati had the only assist. The Rush tied the score with just over a minute left in the opening period, as an Allen turnover set up Daniel Leavens 11th goal of the season. The game was tied at 1-1 after twenty minutes of play.
The Americans scored back to back goals in the second period. First, Spencer Asuchak went to the net poking home a rebound for his 9th of the season to put Allen up 2-1. Then, Eric Roy fired one home from the left point for his 11th of the season to give Allen a 3-1 lead. Daniel Leavens would answer with his second of the night on the power play, at 14;47 of the second period, to make it a one-goal game once again. The Americans had a 3-2 advantage after two periods.
The third period sealed the win for the Americans as Mathieu Aubin netted his 7th of the season to put Allen up 4-2. Alex Guptill, who had a three-point night, added an empty net goal for his team-leading 22nd of the season to close out the scoring and the Americans ended their losing streak at four games.
The 9th annual Allen Police vs. Allen Fire Charity Hockey Game is tomorrow evening at 5:00 pm right before the Americans face Rapid City. One ticket gets you into both games, with doors opening Saturday afternoon at 4:30 pm.
The Americans and the Ice Angels will be at The Cajun Place, formerly Dodie's, after the game tomorrow night for a meet-n-greet. All fans are welcome to join.
