Last Night

Jamie Tardif provided the shootout game winner after also scoring in regulation as the host Mallards outlasted the Utah Grizzlies to claim a 7-6 shootout victory.

Splitsville

The Mallards last night rebounded to earn a split of a two-game series with Utah after falling to the Grizzlies 5-2 Wednesday.

Four

The Mallards last night halted a four-game losing streak. That skid is tied for the Mallards' second longest regulation losing streak this season. The Mallards first lost four straight in regulation between December 30 and January 6. The Mallards last night avoided matching their longest regulation losing streak of the season. The Mallards endured five straight regulation losses between December 8 and December 16.

Shootout

With last night's win, the Mallards improved to 6-1 in the shootout this season. The Mallards have won four straight shootouts. The Mallards are now 8-4 in games decided in overtime or the shootout.

Narrow Margin

Willie Raskob is tied for fourth in the ECHL among rookies and among defensemen in assists (29).

Between the Pipes

Ivan Kulbakov last night made 35 saves in regulation and overtime before turning aside two of the four Grizzlies he faced in the shootout on the way to his first win since February 6. Kulbakov was loaned to the Mallards last Saturday by the American Hockey League's Cleveland Monsters after being recalled by Cleveland February 12.

Special Teams

The Mallards went 1-for-4 on the power play last night while the Grizzlies went 3-for-4. The Mallards are tied for fifteenth in the ECHL on the power play (16.8 percent) and twenty-sixth in penalty killing (77.0 percent).

Head to Head

Tonight's game is the eighth of nine between the Mallards and Cyclones. The Mallards defeated Cincinnati 4-3 on January 31 at the TaxSlayer Center after going winless (0-4-2) in their first six get-togethers with the Cyclones. The Mallards have gone 0-3-1 at U.S. Bank Arena this season. All-time, the Mallards have gone 9-15-4 overall against the Cyclones and 6-7-1 in Cincinnati
