Colorado Eagles News Release

LOVELAND, CO. - Eagles forward Michael Joly netted a pair of goals and added an assist, while goaltender Lukas Hafner stopped 28 of the 29 shots he faced as Colorado defeated the Tulsa Oilers, 4-1 on Friday. Eagles forward Matt Garbowsky also posted a goal and an assist in the winning effort.

Colorado would put the first mark on the scoresheet when defenseman Matt Register buried a slapshot from the high-slot on the power play to give the Eagles a 1-0 edge just 6:10 into the contest. That lead would be stretched just 1:33 later when Joly tracked down a loose puck at the bottom of the left circle and backhanded it past Tulsa goaltender Devin Williams to give Colorado a 2-0 advantage.

After a scoreless second period, the Oilers would cut trim the deficit when forward Garrett Ladd bashed a pass in the low-slot past Hafner on the power play to cut the Eagles lead to 2-1 at the 12:03 mark of the third period.

Colorado would push its lead back to a pair just 40 seconds later when Joly fed a puck between his legs from the side of the net and into the goal to put the Eagles on top 3-1. The tally was Joly's league-leading 39th goal of the season.

Tulsa would pull Williams in favor of the extra attacker late in reguation, but it would be Colorado who would capitalize, as Garbowsky potted an empty-netter with only 1:05 left in the contest.

The Eagles finished the game going 2-for-7 on the power-play, while outshooting the Oilers 37-29 on the evening.

The Eagles return to action when they take on the Tulsa Oilers at the Budweiser Events Center on Saturday, March 3rd at 7:05pm MT.
