INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Kansas City Mavericks (29-27-0-2) came from behind for the second game in a row to finish off a sweep of the Fort Wayne Komets (38-15-2-1) by a 4-3 final score Saturday night at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.

Jared VanWormer led the charge on the offensive end, potting two power play goals, and Adam Carlson made 39 saves in the game to finish off Fort Wayne.

The game started similarly to Fridays, Fort Wayne carrying play in the early running. The Komets were rewarded with the opening goal at 15:30 of the first, Ryan Culkin's 11th of the campaign.

Friday's hero Corey Durocher tied the game late in the frame, deking past goalie Michael Houser for a wide-open backhand that slid to the back of the net to draw even at one apiece.

The Komets jumped back on top in the second, scoring back-to-back goals for a 3-1 edge.

A gritty comeback effort from the Mavericks started right after the Komets extended their lead to 3-1, VanWormer's eighth power play goal of the campaign to cut the deficit in half at 12:10 of the second.

Eric Freschi tied the game in the third with a blue-collar goal from his stomach off a rebound, poking in a loose puck to knot the game at three early in the final frame. The Mavs then got their first lead of the game as VanWormer potted his second score on the man-advantage of the contest for a 4-3 edge.

The Mavericks hit the road for four-game road stint against Mountain Division opponents, starting with a Wednesday date at Colorado.
