Kansas City Mavericks (28-27-0-2) vs. Fort Wayne Komets (38-14-2-1)

7:05 p.m.

Silverstein Eye Centers Arena | Independence, Mo.

Mavs Minutes

Comeback Kids

The Mavericks erased two one-goal deficits in last night's game en route to becoming the first team this season to hand the Komets a loss despite trailing after 40 minutes of play. Fort Wayne entered last night's game 27-0-0-0 on the year when leading through two periods, but a gritty effort in the third period allowed the Mavs to complete the comeback.

Komet Killers

The Mavericks own the lead in the season series against Fort Wayne this year by a 3-1 tally, winning two in Fort Wayne and last night's game at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. Against the rest of the ECHL, Fort Wayne is 37-12-1-1 this season.

Second Line Lights It Up

The trio of Corey Durocher-Mark Cooper-Jared VanWormer played a big role in last night's win, all tallying two points, Cooper with two goals and Durocher with the game-winning goal with less than a minute remaining in regulation. The second forward line has been huge for the Mavericks of late, all three posting at least one point in four of the last five games.

Playoff Picture

After last night's win and losses from Indy and Kalamazoo, the Mavericks are now a solitary point out of the playoffs. Kansas City jumped the Fuel last night after Indy fell to Cincinnati and climbed to within one point of the Wings, who occupy the fourth spot in the Central Division standings. The Mavericks have two remaining games against the Fuel but will not see the Wings again this season.

Home Stand Finale

Tonight's game is the final contest of an eight-game home stand, matching a season long from January into February. The Mavericks are 3-3-0-1 in the recent stretch entering tonight's game.
