Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
RABBITS TAILS
The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (20-31-5-1), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, take the ice against the Florida Everblades (38-12-2-4) for the second straight night. The teams required overtime last night to decide the game, the third time in four games that the South Division opponents have extended the game beyond regulation. Florida sits atop the ECHL standings, tied with Toledo with 82 points. Greenville earned the first two wins over the Everblades in the shootout but have been bested in the last two meetings.
STEP UP FOR SHANE
Swamp Rabbits forward Shane Walsh has posted goals in back to back games and has held a hot offensive touch for Greenville. In the last six games, the second year pro has tallied seven points (3G, 4A) and has posted 14 points (5G, 9A) in his last 17 contests. The UMass alum came to Greenville on Jan. 11 and has earned 60 points (24G, 36A) in 103 ECHL games after posting 45 points (19G, 26A) as a rookie.
NAU-DOUBT ABOUT IT
Rookie forward Guillaume Naud potted his first career point last night, scoring a goal in just his fourth game. The winger joined the Swamp Rabbits from Nipissing University where he played 59 games and recorded 31 points (9G, 22A) over three seasons. The 6-foot-2 skater was named the 2012-13 MJHL Most Valuable Player after leading the league with 56 assists in 60 games with the Dauphin Kings. Naud also saw action in the OHL and QMJHL, skating with the Belleville Bulls, Victoriaville Tigres, and Val-d'Or Foreurs from 2010 to 2012.
FORTY FOR BRAD
Netminder Brad Barone made his second appearance in the ECHL last night and played his first full game in the league since turning pro in 2015. The Boston College alum made 40 saves last night in the same building he made his pro debut. The 5-foot-11 goaltender appeared in the 2015 Kelly Cup Playoffs, logging nearly 17 minutes with the Florida Everblades against the South Carolina Stingrays and making five saves on five shots. The Medfield, Massachusetts native has made 40 saves on 13 separate occasions in three pro seasons and has earned a 8-3-1-1 record in those games.
EYES ON JOHN
Florida forward John McCarron has been out to get the Swamp Rabbits this season. In four games against Greenville, the Everblades leading scorer has posted nine points (6G, 3A) including a pair of game winners. McCarron has posted 50 points (22G, 28A) this season and ranks 16th in the ECHL's scoring race. The third year pro from Cornell University has tallied 141 points (60G, 81A) in 160 ECHL games.
TRANSACTIONS
Forward Dawson Leedahl has been reassigned to the Swamp Rabbits by the New York Rangers from the Hartford Wolf Pack. Leedahl played 30 games with the Wolf Pack after his promotion on Nov. 30 and recorded six points (1G, 5A) in the AHL. Prior to being reassigned to Hartford, Leedahl began the season on fire in Greenville. The rookie tallied 17 points (7G, 10A) in 18 games and was fifth among all rookies in the ECHL. In addition to Leedahl's addition to the roster, the Swamp Rabbits have also released forward Derek Sutliffe from the club. The winger posted four points (2G, 2A) in 33 games after being called up from the Mississippi RiverKings.
