
'Belters Earn Post-Season Awards

NORMAL, Ill. - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, are proud to announce that Satoshi Kajiyama has won the Frontier League Trainer of the Year award, while Pantagraph writer Randy Reinhardt has won the Writer of the Year award! The CornBelters continue play at home through Sunday against the Florence Freedom and the Joliet Slammers!
Kajiyama, a Shizuoka, Japan native, works as an athletic trainer at Orthopedic & Sports Enhancement Center. He previously worked as a graduate assistant at Illinois State University, where he was primarily responsible for the Redbird Baseball team. Kajiyama also has experience in professional baseball, having completed internships with the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Reinhardt is a native of Flanagan and a graduate of Illinois State University. He has worked at the Pantagraph since 1984 and has covered the CornBelters for the three years the team has been in existence. He also covered Normal's quest for a baseball team and all the details concerning the construction of the Corn Crib.
"We are very proud of both Tosh and Randy, as they do a wonderful job," said CornBelters General Manager Kyle Kreger. "These awards at the end of the year are a great honor, as Frontier League personnel have voted them the best in their categories this year. We are very happy to have two people associated with the CornBelters receiving these awards."
