Beaupit Stands Tall But Chiefs Lose in Overtime, 2-1
November 7, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release
Spokane, Wash. -- Goaltender Mason Beaupit turned away 35 of 37 shots faced but the Chiefs couldn't quite seal the win, losing in overtime to the Everett Silvertips, 2-1 on Saturday night at Spokane Arena.
Playing their third-straight game against the Silvertips, Spokane opened the scoring late in the first period. Defenseman Raegan Wiles sauced a perfect pass across to forward Yannick Proske on the right wing and the German rookie finished to make it 1-0.
After a scoreless second period, Everett ratcheted up the pressure in the third, tilting the ice in their favor with 14 shots on goal. It was Anaheim Ducks prospect Olen Zellweger who found the net through traffic on one of four Silvertips power plays.
Hunter Campbell extended his point streak to four games with the overtime winner, finding a loose puck on the right side to beat a sprawling Beaupit.
Spokane finished the game 0-for-2 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill. The Silvertips outshot the Chiefs 37-13.
The two clubs will meet once again on Wednesday night in Everett.
