The Kelowna Rockets extended their point streak to four games with a 4-1 victory over the Prince George Cougars on Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, BC.
Twenty-year-old defenceman Jake Lee scored twice, Gabriel Szturc netted his first WHL goal and Cole Tisdale made 33 saves in his first start of the season to push the Rockets record to 5-3-0-1.
The Cougars found the back of the net first when Koehn Ziemmer (3) opened the scoring 8:08 into the second period. Gabriel Szturc (1) tied things up 13 seconds later when he beat Cougars starter Taylor Gauthier with a rebound. Minutes later, Jake Lee (3) gave the Rockets their first lead of the game.
Tyson Feist (3) sped up the ice to connect on a pass from Dylan Wightman and Jake Lee (4) capitalized on a five-on-three power play to give the Rockets a 4-1 lead.
The Rockets shut down all five Cougars power-play attempts, while the power-play went one for four on the night.
Both teams had 34 shots on net.
Scott Cousins, Steel Quiring and Elias Carmichael were the Rockets scratches.
Kelowna will be back in action on Wednesday, November 10 when they wrap up their homestand with a matchup against the Kamloops Blazers. A limited number of single-game tickets are available at selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.
The current B.C. Provincial Health Office restrictions allow for 50% capacity at Prospera Place. All fans attending will need to abide by the BC Provincial Health Authority, Prospera Place and the Western Hockey League's recently announced COVID-19 health and safety requirements which includes masks, double vaccination and their BC vaccine card.
