ICE Use Big Scoring Effort to Defeat Red Deer

Zach Benson and Mikey Milne each scored a pair of goals to lead the Winnipeg ICE to a 7-5 win over the Red Deer Rebels Sunday afternoon at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.

Jakin Smallwood, Ben Zloty and Carson Lambos also scored for the ICE, who improved their record to a WHL best 14-1.

Matthew Savoie and Conor Geekie each chipped in with three assists during Winnipeg's eighth consecutive victory on home ice.

Liam Keeler, Arshdeep Bains and Blake Stevenson replied for Red Deer, who have dropped all three games against the ICE this season. The final regular season game between these two teams is scheduled for Feb 19 in Red Deer.

The ICE outshot the Rebels 33-25. Winnipeg was 2/4 on the power play while Red Deer went 3/8.

Gage Alexander earned his sixth victory of the season in goal. Connor Ungar allowed four goals on 12 shots in the first period for the Rebels, and was replaced by Chase Coward who finished the game stopping 18 of 20.
