Beast Silence Thunder for 4th Straight Win

Brampton Beast News Release
BRAMPTON, ONT- Last week's ECHL goaltender of the week Trevor Cann proved once again why he is worthy of the honour on Friday night, stopping 45 of 46 shots in a 4-1 Beast win. While stretches of the game weren't entirely pretty, the Brampton Beast made the most of a smaller but quicker offense to get to the league's second-best goaltender Tyler Bunz early and often, despite being outshot by a 46-28 margin.
The Beast wasted no time in getting the train chugging, tallying the opening goal just 4:05 after the opening faceoff. Mike McIsaac banked a rebound in off of the pad of Thunder goaltender, Tyler Bunz, from behind the goal line as Brampton drew first blood. Moments later, former Wichita Thunder player and Beast leading scorer, Chad Painchaud, buried one into the net of his former team to give the Beast a luxury that they don't often enjoy; an early two-goal lead. Brampton would hang on for the rest of the period to head into the first intermission up by two.
Wichita would make their first mark on the score sheet just seconds into the middle frame, with Kyle Gibbons tallying his first of the season off a broken-looking play to cut the Beast lead in half.
However, that is as much as Cann would budge and as close as the Thunder would get. The Beast went on to add two goals in the third period, as Rob Ricci notched a powerplay tally from the slot for his second of the season and Tyson Fawcett, who also recorded an assist and a fight, sunk the empty netter to icing the cake for his first professional Gordie Howe hat-trick. The Beast will be back in action tomorrow when they once again play host to the Wichita Thunder for game two of the doubleheader with puck drop scheduled for 2pm ET on Maple Lodge's Free Hotdog Day.
