Hershey Bears News Release
4/2/2004 9:31:00 PM - The BEARS lose the second game in a row on its current five game road trip, and now head to Bridgeport in need of points in the East Division standings.
HERSHEY and the Phantoms skated to a scoreless draw at the end of 20 minutes of play. The BEARS were able to fire nine shots at Philly goaltender Antero Niittymaki, while Phil Sauve stopped all six shots he saw. The BEARS killed off a five-minute power play early in the period when Shane Willis was called for a high sticking major.
Philadelphia began the second period by scoring two goals in the first 5:30. Mark Murphy scored his 15th of the season at the 3:13 mark, and Freddy Meyer added his 12th of the year at the 5:30 mark to stake the Phantoms to a 2-0 lead. Philly would make it 3-0 on an early third period by Kirby Law, but the BEARS would find the back of the net when Marty Hlinka scored his fourth goal of the season at the 4:38 mark. Law would put the finishing touch on the game with an empty net goal at the 19:21 mark of the third period.
The BEARS play the third game of the current five game road trip Saturday in Bridgeport. Face-off at the Arena at Harbor Yard is set for 7:05 p.m., with the pre-game show on WSJW 92.7 FM at 6:45 p.m.
