Thrashers Recall Rossiter

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled defenseman Kyle Rossiter (RAWS-ih-tuhr) from the Chicago Wolves.

The 6-foot-3-inch, 217-pound Rossiter, who appeared in four National Hockey League games this season with the Florida Panthers before being traded to Atlanta on March 8, has posted one assist and 25 penalty minutes in 10 games with the Wolves. Prior to the trade, Rossiter played 51 games for Florida¹s American Hockey League affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage, tallying five goals and 12 points.

The Edmonton, Alberta, native, who is playing his fourth professional season, was the Panthers¹ first pick (30th overall) in the 1998 NHL entry draft. Last year, Rossiter tallied seven assists and 107 penalty minutes in 67 games with the Rampage.

The 23-year-old defenseman has recorded nine penalty minutes in nine NHL games with the Panthers spanning the last three seasons (2001-2004), which includes his NHL debut on April 3, 2002, against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Overall, Rossiter has registered 10 goals; 27 assists; 37 points; and 400 penalty minutes in 280 American Hockey League games with the Louisville Panthers (2000-01); Utah Grizzlies (2001-02); Rampage (2002-04); and Wolves (2003-04).

Rossiter, who played for Team Canada in the 2000 World Junior Championships, finished his junior career with 21 goals; 57 assists; 78 points; and 616 penalty minutes in 245 games with the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League, which includes career-highs of 11 goals, 22 assists and 33 points in 1999-2000. Rossiter helped Spokane reach the 2000 WHL Finals with four assists and five points in 15 games.
