Hershey Bears News Release
HERSHEY trailed by two goals on two different occasions, but got a point on the road at Verizon Wireless Arena Saturday night in a 6-5 overtime loss.
Manchester took a 1-0 lead at the 6:33 mark of the first period when Jeff Tambellini followed his own shot and popped a rebound past Kirk Daubenspeck. HERSHEY outshot the Monarchs 17-8 in the first period, but found themselves down 1-0 after twenty minutes.
In the second period, Manchester ran its lead to 2-0 when Richard Petiot notched his second goal of the season at the 4:55 mark. Down by two, the BEARS rallied for two straight lamp-lighters before the end of the period. Mike Green scored his first professional goal at 14:04 of the second period to pull HERSHEY within one, and then Boyd Kane tied the game at 19:00 of the period with a shot from the top of the right circle that beat Monarchs goaltender Adam Hauser. Former Monarchs forward assisted on Kane's game-tying tally before intermission.
In the third period, Manchester scored two early goals to take a 4-2 lead, but the BEARS came off the mat to score three straight. Eric Fehr scored his fifth goal of the season at 7:07 of the third, Graham Mink scored his ninth at 8:33, and Mark Wotton gave HERSHEY the lead at 12:20 at 5-4. Manchester then tied the game at 14:02 at 5-5 when Ryan Murphy scored his first of the season. Lauri Tukonen then won it for the Monarchs at 3:07 of overtime.
The BEARS complete the current three-game road trip Friday night when the club travels to south Philadelphia to face the Phantoms. Face-off is set for 7:05 p.m.
