Hamilton, ON - Jean-Francois Jacques and Duncan Milroy each scored two goals to lead the Hamilton Bulldogs to a 5-2 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday night. The win is the ‘Dogs third straight at Copps Coliseum and they now prepare for a five game, ten day road trip beginning on Tuesday. With the win, the Bulldogs reached the .500 mark, improving their record to 7-7-0-1.

The Bulldogs scored the first goal of the game on the power play at the 6:32 mark of the first period. Jacques tipped Ron Hainsey's shot from the point past Griffins goaltender Jimmy Howard for his sixth goal of the season.

Hamilton added to their lead with 6:49 left in the first period while shorthanded. Milroy recorded his third goal of the season on a give-away by Howard. The Grand Rapids goaltender left his crease in a race for the puck with Milroy, but his attempted clearing pass hit the Bulldogs' winger in the chest, leaving an open net.

Jacques' second goal of the game, and team-leading seventh of the season, gave the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead just 3:01 into the second period. Francis Lemieux made a pass across the crease, and Jacques fired the puck up over Howard's shoulder.

The Bulldogs extended their lead to 4-0 just 1:21 later on a two-on-one rush. Defenceman Mathieu Roy, who joined the play after a Griffins giveaway, had his initial shot blocked by Howard, but buried the rebound for his second goal of the season. After Roy's goal, Drew MacIntyre replaced Howard in the Grand Rapids net.

Grand Rapids got on the board with a power play goal at the 6:40 mark of the second period when Eric Manlow lifted a wrist shot over the blocker of Hamilton goaltender Yann Danis.

The Griffins cut the Bulldogs lead to two goals with 3:57 left in the game. Jiri Hudler extended his point-scoring streak to 13 games, collecting an assist on a give-and-go play that ended with Manlow potting his second goal of the evening.

Milroy recorded his second goal of the game into an empty net at the 18:45 mark of the third period to round out the scoring.

Hamilton goaltender Danis stopped 35 of 37 shots to pick up his third straight win since being assigned to the Bulldogs. Grand Rapids goaltender Howard made three saves before being replaced by MacIntyre, who stopped all 13 shots he faced.

Hamilton was 1-6 with the man advantage while Grand Rapids was 1-5.
