Albany Devils News Release
Lowell, Mass. - The Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League will have several lineup changes prior to the drop of the puck tonight against the Hartford Wolf Pack. RW Craig Adams was recalled by the Carolina Hurricanes today, D Tomas Slovak was reassigned to Lowell by the Colorado Avalanche and D Ryan Jorde was signed to a PTO (Professional Try-Out).
Adams, 28, serves as one of Lowell's alternate captains this season, and is tied for third on the team with four goals. He has added three assists for seven points in 13 games. He has played 238 games in the National Hockey League, all with the Hurricanes, after being drafted by Hartford in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. After signing this summer as a free agent with Anaheim, Adams was re-acquired by Carolina prior to the start of the season in exchange for D Bruno St. Jacques.
Slovak, 22, attended training camp this season with the Lock Monsters and is under contract with the Avalanche. He has played in eight games this season with the San Diego Gulls in the ECHL, recording three assists and four PIM. The Slovakian native has suited up in 43 career AHL contests, with 11 points and 18 PIM. Slovak played with Kosice in the Slovakian league in 2004-05 and skated in one game with Hershey in the AHL.
Jorde, 23, makes his return to the AHL this season after playing in six games in the United Hockey League with the Danbury Trashers. The fourth-year pro has manned the blueline for the last three seasons with the Rochester Americans, after being drafted in the ninth round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres. Jorde has played 124 AHL games, with seven points (1g-6a) and 218 PIM. He had four points and 52 PIM last season in 36 games with the Amerks.
