LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats (16-32) were shut out the first time at home, and only the second time of the season, in a 4-0 decision to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Tuesday evening at Louisville Slugger Field.
Scranton hit four solo home runs on their way to the victory. Billy McKinney and Ryan McBroom homered in the second inning before the duo of Clint Frazier and Mike Ford went yard in the seventh frame.
Louisville right-handed starting pitcher Cody Reed (0-4, 4.63) suffered his fourth defeat in his seventh start of the season. Reed pitched 6.2 innings and gave up ten hits, including the four home runs, while walking just one batter and striking out five on 107 pitches, 66 strikes. Scranton starter and former University of Louisville Cardinal ace, Josh Rogers (5-3, 2.48) tossed seven innings and gave up five hits, two walks, and struck out three on his way to picking up the win.
The Bats managed just five hits with right fielder Gabriel Guerrero leading the way going 2-for-4 from the plate with a pair of singles. Dilson Herrera slapped a double in the fourth inning and Steve Selsky ripping a triple in the eighth.
The RailRiders and Bats will meet in the second game of their three-game series on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. ET. Anthony DeSclafani (0-1, 10.80) is scheduled to make his second start for Louisville and fourth rehab start of the season against Scranton's David Hale (0-2, 5.70).
