Former Louisville Cardinal Josh Rogers to Start against Bats Tuesday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Former University of Louisville Cardinals pitcher Josh Rogers is expected to be the starting pitcher for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders tonight at Louisville Slugger Field. The Louisville Bats host the RailRiders, Triple-A affiliate of the New Yankees, for a 6:30 first pitch Tuesday night, with gates open at 5:30.

Rogers pitched for the Louisville Cardinals for two seasons (2014-15), compiling an 11-4 record with a 3.46 ERA in 30 games, 25 starts. In 145.2 collegiate innings, the left-hander allowed 134 hits, 64 runs, 56 earned runs, 8 home runs, 37 walks and struck out 129.

Rogers was named to the 2014 and 2015 Louisville Regional All-Tournament Team, 2015 All-ACC Second Team, and won ACC Pitcher of the Week on April 13, 2015.

The New Albany, Indiana native was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 11th round (#333) of the 2015 June amateur draft.

In his first Triple-A season with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, the 23-year-old is 4-3 with a 2.80 ERA (17er/54.2ip) in 9 starts, allowing 49 hits, 14 walks and striking out 51.
