SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE RAILRIDERS (22-27) @ LOUISVILLE BATS (16-31)

LHP Josh Rogers (4-3, 2.80) vs. LHP Cody Reed (0-3, 4.45)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

| Game No. 50 | Tuesday May 29, 2018 | Lousiville Slugger Field | Louisville, KY |

| First Pitch 6:30 PM | Pregame Show 6:00 PM |

LOOKING FOR DISTANCE: RailRiders LHP Josh Rogers tossed 6.1 innings of one-run baseball last Thursday morning, good for his 5th quality start of the season. Since then, RailRiders starting pitchers have thrown 9.2 innings over the last four games, requiring 26.1 innings of bullpen work (only 5.0 IP of which were absorbed by typical-starter RHP Erik Swanson). SWB starters allowed 10 runs on 7 H, 6 BB and 3 HBP (16 baserunners) in the 1st inning in the four-game series vs. Syracuse. Rogers gets the ball for the RailRiders Tuesday night and has made 9 starts this season with as many quality starts (5) and outings of 6.0+ IP (6) as the rest of his teammates in the other 40 games combined.

HOME COOKING: Rogers hails from New Albany, IN which is a 5.5-mile drive from Louisville, KY. Rogers was on campus for the 2013, 2014 and 2015 baseball seasons. In 2013 (injury redshirt), the Cardinals hosted a regional at Patterson Stadium before sweeping (2)Vanderbilt in two games in the Super Regional to advance to the College World Series (lost both games). In 2014 they hosted Kennesaw State in a Super Regional and swept them to advance to the College World Series (lost both games). In 2015 they were the No. 3 overall seed and lost 2-out-of-3 games to Cal State Fullerton in their own Super Regional to fall just short of a third straight College World Series: 3-2 L (10) // 9-3 W // 4-3 L (11)

DON'T SEE THAT OFTEN: The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders allowed 14 runs on 19 hits to the Syracuse Chiefs Monday afternoon. The last time that the RailRiders pitching staff hit either of those two benchmarks came in a game vs. Louisville June 25, 2015. Louisville scored 15 runs on 24 hits in a game started by RHP Jaron Long (4.1 IP, 14 H, 11R/11ER). INF Irving Falu who was the No. 2 hitter in the lineup Monday for the Chiefs (3-for-5, HR (1), 3 R, 2 RBI) was the leadoff hitter for the Bats in that game in 2015 (4-for-5, 2B, 3B, 3 R, RBI, BB). For SWB, the game was highlighted by OF Aaron Judge (1-for-3, HR (1), R, 2 RBI, BB) hitting his first career Triple-A homer in his fourth career game.

POWERING UP: The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders approach the end of the month of May riding a power surge. In May SWB has played 26 games and has gone 12-14 compared with a 10-13 April. With room to improve offensively and pitching, the power numbers have turned on in a big way for the lineup with 27 HR in the month (1.04 HR/G) compared to 15 HR in 23G in April (0.65). Their 27 HR in the month ranks 4th in the league, though a .241 AVG ranks 10th in the 14-team International League and a 4.28 ERA ranks 11th.
