Bats Push RedHawks Past Isotopes, 10-7

Albuquerque, N.M. - One day after the pitching staff led the way to victory, the Oklahoma City RedHawks (10-7) offense scored 10 runs and bashed three home runs in a 10-7 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes (8-9) before 6,654 at Isotopes Park Sunday afternoon.

For the first time in seven games, the RedHawks did not score first. In the bottom of the first inning, Albuquerque took an early 1-0 lead. With a runner at second and one out, Alex Castellanos singled to left field. Jimmy Paredes mishandled the throw coming from the outfield, allowing a run to score.

The RedHawks jumped in front with a pair of runs in the second inning. Jimmy Paredes connected on his second home run of the season-a two-run shot that made it 2-1. The home run also marked the team's first dinger in eight games.

Two more runs followed in the third, including an RBI single by Jonathan Villar.

In his second plate appearance back with the RedHawks, Brett Wallace launched a deep home run out to right field leading off the fourth. Robbie Grossman would add a two-out RBI single later in the inning to make it 6-1.

Leading 6-2 in the fifth, Marc Krauss hit the third home run of the day for Oklahoma City to start off the inning. Che-Hsuan Lin notched an RBI single later in the frame to give the RedHawks their largest lead at 8-2.

Albuquerque got back into the game in the bottom of the inning, scoring four times. The Isotopes collected four singles, but the RedHawks also committed an error and had a wild pitch that led to a run.

In the top of the seventh, Grossman delivered his second two-out RBI knock of the day, extending the lead back to three runs. In the bottom of the seventh, a sac fly by Scott Van Slyke made it a 9-7 game.

A wild pitch by Geison Aguasviva in the top of the eighth allowed Trevor Crowe to score and get the RedHawks to 10 runs.

Albuquerque never brought the tying run to the plate late in the game, as the bullpen for the second straight day closed out the game with little fanfare. After allowing a leadoff single to start the ninth, closer Jose Valdez retired the next three batters to earn his fifth save.

Valdez capped off a nice afternoon from the RedHawks bullpen. Four relievers combined to allow one run and two hits over the final 4.2 innings. Eric Berger (1-0) earned his first win since joining the RedHawks last week.

Making a spot start for Albuquerque, Red Patterson was roughed up and took the loss. Patterson (0-1) allowed six runs and seven hits over three-plus innings.

RedHawks starter Ross Seaton lasted 4.1 innings. Although he gave up six runs, only three were earned. Seaton gave up seven hits with one walk and one strikeout in the no decision.
