ROUND ROCK, Texas - Express shortstop Jurickson Profar drilled a seventh inning grand slam to cap a five run inning and deliver the Round Rock Express a 7-1 come from behind win on Sunday at the Dell Diamond.
Ed Lucas smoked a solo home run for the Zephyrs to lead off the fourth inning and the Zephyrs grabbed a 1-0 lead. The Express tied the contest in the bottom of the fourth inning when Joey Butler homered to centerfield.
The solo home run by Butler was New Orleans starter Doug Mathis only hit allowed. He worked five innings in the no decision. Express starter Ross Wolf pitched 6.2 innings and also received a no decision.
The Express touched up Zephyrs reliever Jordan Smith with five runs on five hits in the seventh inning. The Express sent nine batters to the plate and took the lead on a Eli Whiteside sacrifice fly. Profar followed a single from Engle Beltre with the grand slam over the centerfield wall. Smith takes the loss to even his record to 1-1. He had pitched 9.1 innings allowing just one run prior this appearance. Neal Cotts earns the win in relief.
The first place Express improves to 11-7 and the Zephyrs fall to 7-9.
Game Notes - The Z's defensively had played 40 consecutive innings of error free baseball. The Z's fall to 7-2 when scoring the games first run. The Zephyrs have scored 42 of their 57 runs this season after the fifth inning.
