COLUMBUS Oh.- The Louisville Bats (46-52) fell short in a 7-6 loss to the Columbus Clippers (54-43) Wednesday night at Huntington Park.

The Clippers gained an early 2-0 lead in the first after a home run to center from first baseman Jesus Aguilar bringing home Tyler Naquin.

Shortstop Kristopher Negron gave the Bats their first run of the night in the third after a solo homer to left.

The Clippers didn't hesitate to take over in the third. A wild pitch issued by Bats pitcher Matt Buschmann, an RBI single from Jerry Sands and a two-run homer by Zach Walters put Columbus ahead 6-1.

A RBI single from Kyle Waldrop in the fourth tacked on another run for the Bats. Top of the fifth, Jermaine Curtis added a run after a RBI single to left making it 6-3 Columbus.

Ramon Cabrera slammed a two-run double in the seventh leaving the Bats only two runs short to the Clippers, 7-5.

Righty Matt Buschmann (L, 1-3, 4.23) exited the mound for Louisville in the sixth. He allowed eight hits, seven earned runs, two walks, ten strike outs and two home runs. Buschmann's ten strikeouts are the most by a Bats pitcher since Dylan Axelrod struck out ten on July 30, 2014, also at Columbus.

Right-hander Toru Murata (W, 8-4, 2.80) grabbed the win for Columbus. He pitched five innings, allowed nine hits, three earned runs, one walk, three strike outs and one home run.

Offensively, Ramon Cabrera is now on a ten-game hitting streak, a season high for himself.

Louisville heads back home tomorrow night to take on game three of the four-game split series against Columbus at 7:05 p.m. Righty Robert Stephenson (2-0, 4.50) will take the mound for Louisville and starting for Columbus will be right-hander Shaun Marcum (7-1, 2.25).
