Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons face the Syracuse Chiefs in the second game of a four-game set at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Bisons have won three straight, including a 7-0 win last night in the series opener with the Chiefs. The Bisons are just 3.0 games back of 1st place Rochester, the closest they've been since June 6 (28-28).

The Bisons are 5-1 against the Chiefs. Buffalo has now won 33 of the last 54 games in the rivalry since 2012, a .611 winning pct. These teams will meet 15 more times before the end of the season. With last night's win Buffalo (9-6) has pulled in with Rochester (11-8) in the 2015 Thruway Cup Standings, 4.5 games ahead of the Chiefs (5-11).

RHP JOEL PINEIRO makes his second start and fourth appearance for the Bisons. The veteran's last two outings have been out of the bullpen, including 3.2 innings of work against Columbus on Thursday. In that outing, Pineiro allowed four earned runs on six hits.

INF MATT HAGUE'S league best .351 batting average and .436 on-base pct. have already reached year-end league qualification. Both numbers would be Bisons' modern era record, eclipsing OF Dave Clark's .340 average in 1987 and INF Torey Lovullo's .413 on-base pct. in 1998. Hague averages 1.319 hits per game and is also on pace for 187 hits this year, six more than INF Jhonny Peralta's 2004 team record.
Alex Hassan
OF ALEX HASSAN has been on fire during the last 10 games. The outfielder is batting .394 (13-33) with five doubles, five runs scored, four RBI and a home run. Hassan has collected six multi-hit performances for the Bisons during his 10-game hot streak.

Since returning to the Bisons on July 17, OF DALTON POMPEY is batting .375 (6-16) with four runs-scored, four base-on-balls, and an RBI...RHP GREG BURKE has allowed just one run in eight appearances for Buffalo this season. In 8.2 innings, the righty has given up four hits and struck out eight...LHP ANDREW ALBERS and LHP JEFF FRANCIS were both part of Team Canada who won gold over Team USA at this year's Pan-American Games.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (47-47) were off yesterday as they travelled to Oakland for their first stop of a six-game west-coast swing. Tonight will be the first game for 3B Josh Donaldson in Oakland since being traded to Toronto. Mark Buehrle will get the ball for tonight's game against the A's. (10:05 p.m.)
