Basabe Gives Bulls a 10-9 Walk-Off Over Knights

DURHAM, N.C. -Bulls first baseman Austin Shenton bashed three hits, including a two-run double, second baseman Jonathan Aranda homered, and shortstop Osleivis Basabe's clutch game-winning two-run single gave Durham a 10-9 win over Charlotte on Thursday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Shenton started the Bulls off with a two-run double before 3B Curtis Mead scored on a sacrifice fly and RF Diego Infante recorded his first RBI with the Bulls. Aranda homered in the next frame before LF Ruben Cardenas drove in two runs to extend Durham's lead to 7-0.
Charlotte answered with two runs in the third and fifth frames before putting up five more runs in the sixth frame, including a two-run double by DH Stephen Piscotty. Durham CF Kameron Misner brought home a single tally in the ninth before Basabe's game-winning hit.
Durham reliever Trevor Brigden (2.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 SO) earned the victory, while Bryan Shaw (0.1 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 0 SO), meanwhile, suffered the defeat.
The two teams are scheduled to face off again on Friday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35pm.
