Barrie Colts News Release

The Barrie Colts are proud to announce the leadership group for the 2025-2026 Ontario Hockey League season. This group of players has earned the privilege of wearing letters through their commitment, performance, and ability to lead both on and off the ice.

The Colts will be led by #29 Cole Beaudoin and #77 Kashawn Aitcheson, who have been named team co-captains for the upcoming season. Both players have spent multiple seasons in Barrie and have developed into trusted leaders within the organization.

Cole Beaudoin, a 6'2 ‚¬Â³, 211 lb center from Kanata, Ontario, returned yesterday from time with the Utah Mammoth. Known for his physical presence and consistent two-way game, Beaudoin recorded 26 goals and 29 assists in the 2024-25 season. On Beaudoin's leadership, Head Coach Dylan Smoskowitz said:

"Cole is a natural born leader. If you followed Cole's routine on a daily basis, you would become better in all aspects of your life. His dedication, commitment, and unparalleled work ethic will have positive effects on this organization for years to come."

Kashawn Aitcheson, a 6'1 ‚¬Â³, 198 lb defenseman from Toronto, Ontario, comes off an impressive showing at New York Islanders camp. Aitcheson tallied 26 goals and 33 assists in 64 games during the 2024-25 season. On Aitcheson, Coach Smoskowitz said:

"Kash is the protector of the universe for our team. He's a fearless leader who wears his heart on his sleeve. Kash not only leads by example in our locker room, but in our community as well."

Serving as alternate captains will be #88 Evan Passmore and #25 Brad Gardiner, both long-standing contributors to the Barrie lineup.

Evan Passmore, a 6'4 ‚¬Â³, 210 lb defenseman from Elmira, Ontario, joined the Colts in 2023 and has developed into a steady, reliable presence on the blue line. In 62 games last season, he recorded 11 points and 58 penalty minutes. On Passmore's leadership, Head Coach Smoskowitz said:

"Evan's tireless work ethic and dedication to his craft makes him a phenomenal example for our younger players."

Brad Gardiner, a 6'1 ‚¬Â³, 185 lb forward from Aurora, Ontario, was acquired in 2024 and played over 70 games last season, contributing 18 goals and 20 assists while maintaining a +11 plus/minus rating. On Gardiner, Head Coach Smoskowitz remarked:

"Brad is a fantastic ambassador for the Barrie Colts and everything we represent. He's professional, accountable, and extremely reliable."

Together, Beaudoin, Aitcheson, Passmore, and Gardiner form a balanced leadership group that blends offensive skill, defensive reliability, and veteran experience. Their guidance will be essential as the Barrie Colts navigate the 2025-26 season, both on the ice and within the community.

The Barrie Colts congratulate their newly named captains and alternates and look forward to watching them lead the team throughout the 2025-26 campaign.
