Guelph, Ont. - The Spirit started a three-game road trip against the Storm on Friday night. Nikita Klepov continued his scoring streak and Stepan Shurygin made 36 stops, but Saginaw ultimately fell in overtime.

A back and forth first periodhad both goaltenders on display. The Spirit saw two early power play opportunities but couldn't cash in. In the final seconds, Egor Barabanov and Carson Harmer both had chances on the Storm's netminder, Zachary Jovanovski, but were shut down. After a competitive high scoring matchup between the Spirit and the Storm a week ago, the two would head into the first intermission scoreless.

After 1: SAG: 0 - GUE: 0 (Total Shots: 12-10)

The Storm opened up scoring in the first two minutes with a flurry of offensive chances and chaos in front of Stepan Shurygin. Mykhailo Haponenko's rebound chance put the Storm up early in the period.

A few minutes later, the Storm would go on the power play after Nic Sima was called for a delay of game penalty. Simon Belohorsky fired a shot from the slot to put the Storm up 2-0.

The Spirit were able to answer back less than a minute later. Fresh out of the penalty box, Sima got the puck in front of Jovanoski after a Graydon Jones rebound to put Saginaw on the board with his first goal of the season.

Saginaw was able to find a chance of their own on the penalty kill and did not waste it. In the final seconds of a Storm power play, Nikita Klepov found a breakaway opportunity and scored to even up the score heading into the final frame.

After 2: SAG: 2 - GUE: 2 (2nd period shots: 13 - 16 Total shots: 25 - 26)

The third period stayed knotted 2-2 for a majority of the frame. Two back-to-back Saginaw penalties left the Spirit shorthanded for the final minutes of the period, but they were able to keep the Storm off the board to send the game to overtime.

After 3: SAG: 2 - GUE: 2 (3rd period shots 5-10, Total shots 30-36)

In the first minute of overtime, Leo Serlin brought the puck into the slot, skated through defenders and slid the puck past Shurygin to give Guelph the win.

Final: SAG: 2 - GUE: 3 (3rd period shots 0 - 2, Total shots 30- 38)

Powerplays: SAG 0/2 GUE 1/5

Goaltenders: SAG Stepan Shurygin (35 saves, 38 shots) GUE Zachary Jovanovski (28 saves, 30 shots)
