Bandits Drop Series Finale with Timber Rattlers 4-1

APPLETON, Wisconsin - The Quad Cities River Bandits were unable to pull of a sweep of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Wednesday afternoon. The Bandits tied the game at one in the sixth but the Timber Rattlers pulled ahead in the bottom half and never looked back as they took the series finale 4-1.

Eric Fornataro (5-7) was charged with the loss for the Quad Citie, he went seven innings and surrendered four runs on ten hits in his seventh loss of the season. Justin Smith threw one scoreless inning of relief for the Bandits. Doug Davis (1-0) picked up his first Midwest League win in his 14 year professional career. It was Davis' third rehab start of 2010 due to inflammation of the lining around the heart. Davis allowed just one run through seven innings. Efrain Nieves (1) picked up his first save of the season after throwing two scoreless innings of work.

The Bandits scored just one run on six hits in the loss. Edgar Lara plated Devin Goodwin in the sixth inning following Goodwin's one-out triple. The Bandits other extra base hit came off the bat of Matt Adams who doubled in the top of the sixth inning.

The River Bandits head to Beloit, Wisconsin to take on the Snappers for a three game series starting Thursday night. Quad Cities will send right-hander Jorge Rondon (2-4) to take on the Snappers for the second time this season. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Pohlman Field.
