
Kernels drop fifth in a row to Snappers, 11-8

Beloit, WI - The Beloit Snappers won their fifth game in a row against the Cedar Rapids Kernels by the score of 11-8 on Tuesday night at Pohlman Field in Beloit. The Kernels scored five runs in the third inning on a bases loaded triple by Matt Long, but the Snappers answered by scoring 10 run in the next four innings including a five run fourth.
Kernels starter Garrett Richards (6-4) was roughed up for eight runs (six earned) on six hits, walked six and struck out seven over 3.1 innings in taking the loss. Long and Michael Wing both had 3 RBI as Jean Segura went 2-4 with a double and RBI and Tyler Mann was 1-4 with an RBI.
Anderson Hidalgo did most of the damage for Beloit, going 2-3 with 3 RBI. Beloit starter Miguel Munoz (5-5) had plenty of run support as he allowed five runs on seven hits and struck out five over six innings for the win. The Kernels scored three runs off reliever Chris Armstrong and had runners on first and third with one out when Peter Kennelly got Jon Karcich to hit into an inning ending double play.
