D-Backs Select Enright from Double-A Mobile, Option Rosa

(PHOENIX) - The Arizona Diamondbacks announced today they have selected right-handed pitcher Barry Enright from Double-A Mobile and optioned right-handed pitcher Carlos Rosa to Triple-A Reno, according to D-backs' Executive Vice President and General Manager Josh Byrnes.

Enright, 24, was 4-1 with a 2.88 ERA (30 ER in 93.2 IP) with 83 strikeouts and 15 walks in 14 starts for Mobile. Enright last

pitched on Friday in a 5-3 win at Mississippi, his fourth straight no-decision, and allowed 2 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks with 9 strikeouts over 7.0 innings. In his last 7 starts, he was 3-0 with a 2.39 ERA (13 ER in 49.0 IP). Enright tossed a complete game (7.0 innings) shutout in the first game of a doubleheader on May 19 against Chattanooga, allowing just 2 hits while recording 8 strikeouts. At the plate, Enright hit .280 (7-for-25) with 6 doubles, a home run and 4 RBI in 11 games. Enright, who will wear No. 54, will start today's game against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium in his Major League debut.

Carlos Rosa, 25, was 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA (10 ER in 13.1 IP) and a .327 opponents average with 9 walks and 8 strikeouts in 15 relief appearances for the D-backs. In a combined 9 games for Reno and Triple-A Omaha, he was 2-1 and 2.76 ERA (5 ER in 16.1 IP) with 9 walks and 14 strikeouts. He was acquired from the Kansas City Royals on May 1 for minor league infielder Rey Navarro.
