Ashtone Morgan Joins Toronto FC Front Office

Toronto FC announced today that Ashtone Morgan will join the front office as Toronto FC's Manager of Player Engagement & Alumni Relations.

"We are thrilled to welcome Ashtone back to Toronto FC," said Toronto FC General Manager Jason Hernandez. "As the first Academy graduate to feature for our First Team, Ashtone pioneered a pathway from amateur status to professional football in the GTA that led to unforgettable achievements at both the club and international levels. We are confident that Ashtone's experience will be a great addition to our office as we continue to build out a staff that will support our club for years to come."

Morgan returns to Toronto FC in a new role after announcing his retirement from professional football on July 31, 2023 following a 14-year career. Morgan will engage with the club's young players and prospects to facilitate their development and growth on and off the field. In addition, he will mentor and assist the pathway development between the Academy, Toronto FC II, and First Team through both sporting and strategic initiatives.

"It's been a full circle for me to be back home at my boyhood club, Toronto FC," said Morgan. "Toronto FC gave me my first professional opportunity, and it is an honour to be back to help mentor and lead the young talent within our club. I'm very excited and grateful to begin a new chapter in my career where it all started."

The Toronto, Ontario native previously spent nine seasons with Toronto FC, where he scored three goals and registered 14 assists in 168 games across all competitions. During his time with the Reds, Morgan lifted nine trophies, including one MLS Cup (2017), three Eastern Conference Championships (2016, 2017, 2019), one Supporters' Shield (2017) and five Canadian Championships (2011, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018). The defender made his First Team debut against Árabe Unido on October 10, 2010 in the Concacaf Champions League. Morgan originally signed a Homegrown contract with Toronto FC on March 17, 2011 and made his Major League Soccer debut against Portland Timbers on March 26. Morgan became the first player in club history to reach 100 appearances for TFC and was the club's first Homegrown Player to make an appearance for the Canadian Men's National Team (CMNT). He made his debut for the CMNT against Saint Lucia on October 7, 2011 in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier, and earned 18 caps for the national team. Morgan also represented Canada at the youth level and was named the Canadian U-20 Player of the Year in 2011.

Along the other stops in his career, Morgan spent two seasons (2020, 2021) with Real Salt Lake before returning to Canada and signing with Forge FC of the Canadian Premier League (CPL). In two seasons with Forge (2022, 2023), Morgan made 41 appearances and lifted the North Star Shield with the Hammers as CPL champions in October 2022.
