Ams Down Tips 5-2 in Return from Break

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Tri-City Americans bested the Everett Silvertips in their return to play from the holiday break Tuesday night, taking a 5-2 final at the Toyota Center.

Chicago Blackhawks prospect Jalen Luypen put the Americans up early in the first, with Ryan Hofer answering for Everett for a tie score after one.

Parker Bell potted a pair of goals in the third period giving Tri-City a lead they would not relinquish. Though Niko Tsakumis netted his first as a Silvertip at 16:39 in the second, Jordan Gavin and Tyson Greenway would tack on insurance goals for the Americans for a 5-2 final.

Nick Avakyan stopped 30 of 32 in the win for Tri-City. Tim Metzger saved 18 of 23.

The Silvertips host the Portland Winterhawks Friday night at Angel of the Winds Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available.
