Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats opened the second half of the season with a 4-0 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings, Wednesday night at the Brandt Centre.
The loss extends the Pats losing-streak to three games. The shutout loss was the first time being shutout since April 1, 2022, when the Winnipeg ICE beat the Pats 7-0.
Brett Hyland (17th), Anthony Wilson (third), Nate Danielson (16th) & Mason Ward (third) scored for the Wheat Kings. Carson Bjarnason kicked out all 19 shots he faced to pick up his second shutout of the season.
Drew Sim stopped 15 of 19 shots in 51:33 before being replaced by Matthew Kieper who stopped all five of the shots he faced in the final 8:27 of the game.

BDN 0-1 at 5:21 - Brett Hyland (17), assisted by Quinn Mantei and Calder Anderson // The Wheat Kings broke into the Pats zone and Hyland got behind the Pats' defence and found himself alone on Sim and buried the puck to give the Wheat Kings a 1-0 lead in the early stages of the second frame.
BDN 0-2 at 11:28 - Anthony Wilson (3), assisted by Zakhar Polshakov // The Pats had trouble getting the puck out of their zone and the Wheat Kings made them pay. Sim stopped the initial shot and Wilson buried the rebound to give the Wheat Kings a 2-0 lead.
Third Period
BDN 0-3 at 9:19 - Nate Danielson (16), assisted by Luke Shipley and Brett Hyland // Danielson's long-distance shot beat Sim to extend the Wheat Kings lead to 3-0.
BDN 0-4 at 10:20 - Mason Ward (3), assisted by Rylen Roersma and Nolan Ritchie// Just over a minute after the Wheat Kings made it 3-0, Ward fired a shot from the top of the right circle to give the visitors a 4-0 lead and all but seal the contest.

NOTES
After a scoring change from an earlier contest, Tanner Howe entered the contest third in the league scoring, with 47 points and riding a 12-game point streak (11G-10A) which ended in the shutout.
Alexander Suzdalev's 10-game point streak (8G-10A) ended.
Drew Sim has lost his last three starts.
The Pats have not scored since 12:58 of the first period in the December 17th contest against the Saskatoon Blades making it 107:02 without a goal.
UP NEXT
The Pats travel to Prince Albert to face the Raiders at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, December 30th at the Art Hauser Centre. The Queen City Kids will be back home for a return matchup with the Raiders in a New Year's Day contest at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Brandt Centre.
