Tri-City Americans News Release
The Americans returned from the winter break on Tuesday with a 5-2 victory over the Everett Silvertips at the Toyota Center. After losing three straight road games, the Americans continued their success at the Toyota Center with their seventh straight victory at home.
Jalen Luypen opened scoring in his first game at the Toyota Center with a shot from the low slot off a feed from Ethan Ernst. The Chicago Blackhawks prospect made his season debut on December 17 in Victoria after recovering from an upper body injury. Luypen, who was acquired by Tri-City over the offseason from Edmonton, has scored in both games played with the Ams.
Ryan Hofer scored for the Silvertips to tie the game 1-1 heading into the first intermission. Everett out shot Tri-City 9-7 through the first 20 minutes.
Parker Bell put the Ams back in front with a power play goal five minutes into the second period. The Calgary Flames prospect skated around the left circle and scored from the high slot with wrist shot over the blocker of Silvertips netminder Tim Metzger. Bell followed ten minutes later with the eventual game-winning goal as he scored off an odd-man rush. The 19-year-old has 14 goals this year and four two-goal games.
Niko Tsakumis replied for the Silvertips late in the second period to cut Tri-City's lead to 3-2. Everett led shots 16-8 in the second frame.
The night's insurance marker came from Jordan Gavin 8:25 into the final period. Tyson Greenway sent a backhand pass to Gavin at the bottom of the right circle where the first-year forward scored far side on Metzger.
Greenway added a goal of his own, scored on the power play, with 4:13 left in the game to secure the 5-2 victory for Tri-City.
Lukas Dragicevic continued his historic point streak with an assist. He now has points in 25 straight, the current Americans franchise record.
Nick Avakyan played the full game in net, turning aside 30 of 32 shots faced and earning his second victory this season.
