Ames Named MWL Pitcher of the Week for Second Time

Bowling Green, KY - For the second straight week, a Bowling Green Hot Rods pitcher has been named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week. On Monday, the Midwest League named Hot Rods RHP Jeff Ames their Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 13-19. Ames hurled six scoreless innings on Monday, May 13 at Bowling Green Ballpark against the Lake County Captains in his only start of the week. This is the second Midwest League Pitcher of the Week award for Ames this season (April 15 - April 21).

In the six shutout innings, Ames allowed just two hits to extend his scoreless innings streak to 17.0 innings. The Vancouver, WA, native won for the fourth straight start and for the fifth time in six outings. On Monday, May 20, Ames scoreless innings streak came to end at 20.0 when he allowed a two-run home run to West Michigan's Lance Durham in the fourth inning. His streak stands as the longest scoreless innings streak by a Hot Rods pitcher this season.

After an off day Tuesday, Bowling Green Ballpark hosts a seven-game homestand, starting Wednesday at 5:05 PM, when the Hot Rods begin a four-game series with the Great Lakes Loons (Dodgers).
