Fort Wayne Earns Split with 7-4 Win

(Eastlake, OH) - Rodney Daal had four hits and Fort Wayne (25-17) defeated Lake County by a final of 7-4 on Monday Night in Eastlake. Daal had a second inning homerun and that made the score 2-0. The TinCaps had the lead and never looked back. The four game series was split.

The scoring was opened in the first when Jeremy Baltz singled home Maxx Tissenbaum. The score was 1-0. In the fourth inning, the score became 3-0 Fort Wayne. A single by Daal scored Alberth Martinez. Lake County put up a run in the bottom of the third. Jorge Martinez singled home Nellie Rodriguez and the score was 3-1 TinCaps.

Lake County evened the score at 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth. LeVon Washington doubled and scored on an error. Erik Gonzalez singled and scored on an Anthony Santander single and the score was evened at 3-3.

Fort Wayne scored two runs in the seventh inning and again in the eighth inning. In the seventh Gabriel Quintana had an RBI and so did Corey Adamson. The score was 5-3 headed to the eighth. In the eighth, two more runs were scored. The TinCaps used a single, double and a triple to spread the lead to four runs. The score was 7-3 Fort Wayne. Lake County got a run in the ninth but fell short 7-4.

RHP Jake Sisco (1-3) started for the Captains and took the loss. Sisco went six and one third innings, allowing eight hits, five earned runs, one walk and eight strikeouts. The eight K's is a new season high for Sisco. D.J. Brown allowed two runs in one and two thirds innings and Jack Wagoner pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Captains.

Fort Wayne sent RHP Joe Ross (3-1) to the mound to start the game. Ross did not get a decision after pitching four innings allowing seven hits, three runs one earned with two walks and two strikeouts. Chris Nunn (3-0) got the win after twirling two innings, allowing one hit one walk and two strikeouts.

The Captains will go on a quick three game road trip to Lansing, Michigan. Tuesday night the Captains will send RHP Dylan Baker (1-3, 3.72) to the mound and the Lugnuts will counter with RHP Taylor Cole (2-2, 4.28). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
