Burlington Bees News Release

Lightning and thunderstorms interrupted the finale of a four-game series between the Burlington Bees and Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, causing the cancellation of Monday night's game.

The Bees (15-24) and Rattlers (19-21) attempted to get a game in before heavy lightning passed through Burlington, but in the bottom of the second inning, lightning was spotted, which put the game into a rain delay. About ten minutes later, heavy rain hit Community Field. The delay lasted 35 minutes before the game was officially cancelled.

The Bees took a 2-0 lead right before the delay, courtesy of a two-run single by Chevy Clarke that brought home Michael Bolaski and Brennan Gowens. Bolaski led off the inning with a double against Damien Magnifico, while Gowens followed with an infield single.

Alex Keudell started for Burlington, throwing two scoreless innings. Keudell delivered a perfect first inning and got out of a jam in the second thanks to Gowens. Adam Giacalone singled with one out, and two batters later, Clint Coulter walked to put men at first and second. Alfredo Rodriguez then singled to left, but Gowens kept the game scoreless thanks to a perfect throw that got Giacalone trying to score the game's first run.

Tonight's game will not be made up because Wisconsin and Burlington will not play again during the first half. The Bees have Tuesday off and will begin a six-game road trip on Wednesday that takes them to Clinton and Cedar Rapids. First pitch in Clinton will be at 6:30 p.m.
