Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans' upcoming community appearance schedule features six events in a three-day span from Sunday, Jan. 26 to Tuesday, Jan. 28 following the conclusion of the team's six-game road stretch.
On Sunday, Jan. 26, team captain Drew Bagnall and forward Colton Gillies, along with the Moose, are scheduled to be on hand at The Strong National Museum of Play from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. to sign autographs and pose for photos. The appearance takes place during The Strong's Paws and Claws Weekend, during which museum-goers can meet unusual animals and a special pack of dogs. This special Amerks meet-and-greet is included with general museum admission fees.
Also on Sunday, defenseman Matt MacKenzie and forward Tim Schaller will skate with the Rochester IceCats Special Hockey Team from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex on the campus of MCC. The pair will provide on-ice instruction and assist coaches with fundamental skill development. The IceCats, also known as Rochester Special Hockey, are members of Special Hockey International - a division of USA Hockey. The organization specializes in providing training in the game of ice hockey for individuals with developmental disabilities. The IceCats are a non-profit volunteer organization, with support coming from its families as coaches, trainers, drivers and most of all, fans.
Monday, Jan. 27 will feature three separate appearances by Amerks players, beginning with forward Dan Catenacci taking part in the Saves For Education Program presented by Citizens Bank and Time Warner Cable News at St. Kateri School in Irondequoit from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Catenacci will join Citizens Bank colleagues to teach a lesson to the students about the importance of goal-setting, savings, and overall money management.
The Amerks will then take part in a pair of Reading Power Play Program appearances presented by Wendy's on Monday. First, Gillies will appear at the Chili Public Library at 4:00 p.m., then forward Frederick Roy will stop by the Henrietta Public Library at 6:30 p.m. At each appearance, the players will read a book to kids, speak to them about the importance of education and give a hockey equipment demonstration. There will also be raffles for Amerks memorabilia and an autograph session.
Forward Luke Adam will then bring this season's edition of the Amerks Reading Power Play Program to a close on Tuesday, Jan. 28 when he reads to kids at the Pittsford Public Library at 6:30 p.m.
The Amerks' next home game is Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 7:05 p.m. versus the Chicago Wolves. For more information or to purchase tickets to an upcoming game, visit www.amerks.com or call 1-855-GO-AMERKS.
