(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans enter their busiest week of the 2008-09 American Hockey League season as they prepare for a five-game in six-night stretch this week.

Rochester's arduous schedule begins with a pair of midweek tilts in the Lone Star State, with the first coming on the evening of Tuesday, December 9th as the Amerks faceoff with the San Antonio Rampage at the AT&T Center. The Amerks make their second stop in Texas to visit the Toyota Center the following night to battle the Houston Aeros in the second and final meeting of the season between the two teams. Rochester earned a 3-2 win in the previous encounter with Houston on November 8th at The Blue Cross Arena. The 8:05 p.m. EST contest will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live. Houston is currently 11-10-1-2 on the season, and sits in sixth place in the West Division with 25 points.

The Amerks then return home on Friday, December 12th to host the Peoria Rivermen in a non-divisional matchup. Faceoff is slated for 7:35 p.m. and will be carried live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live.

Friday's game falls on Scout Night, in which all Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, along with their families and friends can purchase discounted tickets. Lastly, Santa Claus will be in attendance to help kickoff the Christmas festivities.

The Amerks hit the road again on Saturday, December 13th to take on the Lake Erie Monsters at Quicken Loans Arena in a North Division showdown. The 7:30 p.m. faceoff is the second of six meetings between the two teams as Rochester looks to add another win against its Cleveland-based foes. The Monsters (7-11-1-2) are currently sixth in the North Division, with their 17 points just above the Amerks.

Rochester closes its busy weekend on Sunday, December 14th as the Amerks return home to face their longtime rivals, the Syracuse Crunch. The 6:05 p.m. matchup between the I-90 neighbors is the fourth of 12 meetings between the teams this season, with Syracuse ahead in the season series with three consecutive victories over the Amerks. The Crunch presently are in fourth place in the North Division standings with a 14-9-0-1 record and 29 points.

The game is a part of Zweigle's Family Four Pack, where fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for $55. Fans can call the Amerks office at (585) 454-5335 for more details. Tickets can be purchased online through Ticketmaster.com. After the game, head down to The Distillery at 1142 Mt. Hope Ave. for the official postgame party.

The Amerks (4-18-0-2, 10 points) enter their week after a 4-0 win over the Albany River Rats last night at The Blue Cross Arena. Newly acquired goaltender Mike Brodeur, in his first game as an Amerk after signing a professional tryout with the team on Friday, turned away all 28 shots to power the Amerks to their fourth win of the season, snapping the team's current three-game skid. The shutout was the first of his AHL career and the first for any Rochester goaltender this season. Janis Sprukts, in his first game back with the Amerks since being recalled by the Florida Panthers, led the way offensively with a two-goal performance and forwards Stefan Meyer and Tanner Glass each contributed a goal and assist as well.

First-year forward Michal Repik, coming off a four-game point streak, currently paces Rochester's offense with a team-high 14 points, while his six goals ties him with Meyer and Sprukts for the team lead. His 14 points ranks him 19th among AHL rookies. Rookie defenseman Jason Garrison has a team best nine assists and remains Rochester's top scoring defenseman with 11 points overall, good enough for third on the team. Michael Duco is first on the team and 11th in the league with 83 penalty minutes (PIM).

Amerks General Manager Jody Gage announced today that the Florida Panthers have recalled Repik and Glass. The recall is the first of the season for the pair of forwards as they join the Panthers for tonight's National Hockey League contest against the Ottawa Senators. Glass spent half of last season with the Panthers, tallying two points (1+1) and 39 PIM in 41 games with Florida.
