Binghamton Senators News Release
LAST WEEK: The B-Sens (11-9-2-3, 27 pts.) grabbed one point in two divisional contests this past week against Bridgeport and Philadelphia.
FRIDAY, DEC. 5 vs. BRIDGEPORT (6-5 SOL): The B-Sens stormed back after falling behind by two goals early to the Sound Tigers. Peter Regin scored two goals in a two-minute span to even the score at 2. Defenseman Neil Petruic snapped a 79-game goal scoring drought to bring the B-Sens within one goal at 4-3. Ryan Shannon, in his first game back from Ottawa, delivered the game-tying goal with 26 second left in regulation to push the game into overtime. The Sound Tigers converted on three of four shootout attempts to secure the extra point. Left-winger Ilya Zubov had two assist on the night, as did defenseman Tomas Kudelka.
SATURDAY, DEC. 6 @ PHILADELPHIA (5-2 L): A five-point night (3+2) from Patrick Maroon along with nine penalties and four power-play goals allowed doomed the B-Sens in Philadelphia on Saturday night. Ilya Zubov extended his point streak to four games (2+5) with a goal. Defenseman Mattias Karlsson netted the other B-Sens goal. Right-winger Ryan Shannon added two assists for Binghamton. Brian Elliott stopped 14 of 15 shots in a relief appearance.
THIS WEEK: The B-Sens host the Atlantic Division's Portland Pirates (14-6-1-2, 31 pts.) on Friday night in their lone visit to the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena this season. Binghamton then heads up I-88 to take on the Albany River Rats ( 8-11-3-2, 21 pts.) on Saturday night.
FRIDAY, DEC. 12 vs. PORTLAND (7:05 p.m.): After a fast start to the season, the Pirates are 3-5-0-2 over their last 10 games. Right-winger Mark Mancari leads way for the Pirates with 11 goals, 16 assists and a +13 rating in just 16 games played. The B-Sens are a perfect 4-0-0-0 against Portland at the Arena.
SATURDAY, DEC. 13 @ ALBANY (7:05 p.m.): The River Rats have rebounded after a tough start this year, going 5-3-1-1 in their last 10 games. Albany shows a balanced attack, with nine players with 10 or more points this season. The B-Sens have taken three of four points in two meetings this season.
