Allen Americans News Release
WICHITA, KS- With a 5-3 win over the Wichita Thunder at Intrust Bank Arena Saturday night, the Allen Americans remain undefeated for the 2010-11 Season.
In yet another game for the Americans which began with a frenzied pace, both teams were already on the board less than four minutes into play. Just over two minutes into the contest, Dave Bonk recorded his first goal as an American when he put a Bruce Graham feed by Thunder goaltender Ian Keserich.
Wichita answered right back, with a Chris Greene goal from Chris Moran and newly acquired forward AJ Gale.
The Thunder added a power play goal midway through the first, as Jesse Bennefield scored to make it 2-1 for the home team.
Allen stormed back in the second period with two consecutive goals from Bruce Graham. Bonk was credited with the assist on Graham's goal at 10:27, while Nino Musitelli recorded the helper for Graham's tally two minutes later.
Bennefield tied the game up at 3, scoring a power play goal with less than a minute remaining in the period.
The game appeared destined for overtime, until Nino Musitelli put the Americans on top for good with 1:57 to play. Tobias Whelan and Alexandre Quesnel were credited with the assists on the goal which proved to be the winner.
Colton Yellow Horn padded the lead late, with an empty net goal assisted by Bonk.
After defeating the Thunder, Allen moves to 5-0-0 for the season, alone atop the CHL's Berry Conference. Allen will travel home tonight, and begin preparation for a home date with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Tuesday, October 26th. Tuesday night's game is slated to start at 7:30 PM.
