
Bucks Stung in Home Opener 4-3

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 4-3 in overtime in their home opener Saturday night. The Bucks fall to 1-1-1 (three points) while the Bees improve to 2-1-1 (five points) on the season.
Daniel Koger's first North American hat trick was not enough as the Bees erased a two-goal deficit to steal a come-from-behind win over the Bucks.
Jeff Bes had three assists in the game to move to within four points of 1,000 in his career.
Laredo falls to 6-1-2 all-time in home openers and have lost their last two in overtime.
Sean Muncy scored just 22 seconds into overtime to give the Killer Bees the win. Laredo is just 4-0-4 in their last eight home games against the Killer Bees
The Bees, who trailed 3-1 after the first period, tied the game at 3-3 with just 3:39 left in regulation when Kyle Radke scored on a slap shot from the top of the right circle. The Bucks have been outscored a total of 5-1 in the third period through the first three games.
The Killer Bees jumped out in front of the Bucks 1-0 for the third straight game when Dan Gendur redirected a shot in from the point to put Rio up just 6:21 into the first.
The Bucks would explode for three goals in the final 5:54 to take a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes.
Koger tied the game at 1-1 when he jammed in a shot from the right circle 14:06 into the first.
Laredo would take a 2-1 lead just 2:31 later when Koger took a pass from Neil Trimm and hammered the puck in from the left side of the crease.
The Bucks would increase their lead to 3-1 with just 1:13 left in the first when Koger picked up a natural hat trick when he scored on a wrist shot from the right circle.
Koger has five goals in the Bucks' first three games.
The Bucks are 12-1-4 in their last 17 games against the Bees.
The Bucks outshot the Bees 15-11 in the first period and 11-7 in the third period. Laredo outshot Rio in the game 35-31.
Juliano Pagliero stopped 32 shots to pick up the win while Pier Pelletier set aside 27 Killer Bees shots. Pelletier is 10-1-3 in his last 14 regular season games dating back to last season.
Rio would cut the Bucks lead to 3-2 just 5:56 into the second when Tomas Klempa deflected a shot in from the point. The tally was Klempa's second of the season.
The Bucks outshot the Bees 13-7 in the second period.
Bucks' Captain Serge Dube played in his 400th career game Saturday night
