Americans Fall to Top-Ranked Silvertips in Everett

The Americans fell to the Everett Silvertips 8-2 tonight with both of their goals coming on power plays. Everett has sat on top of the U.S. Division all season and is currently ranked third among all CHL teams.
The Silvertips led 3-0 before the Americans were able to find the net 4:21 into the second period. Petr Moravec broke through for Tri-City with a power play goal to get the Ams on the board. Connor Bouchard set up Moravec in the left circle and the Czech Republic native ripped a one timer past Silvertips netminder Braden Holt.
Everett scored another three straight goals before the Americas were able to reply in the middle of the final frame.
Jake Sloan added Tri-City's second goal tonight as he swept in a rebound off a shot from Sasha Mutala. Sloan's goal, his sixth of the season, came on the power play. Moravec also received an assist on the goal.
The Silvertips added two more goals to finalize the 8-2 score.
Hunter Campbell had a hat trick tonight for the Silvertips. Olen Zellweger had one goal, five assists, and finished the night with a +7 rating for Everett.
Nick Avakyan started in net tonight for the Americans. He stopped 34 of 40 shots faced before being relieved in net by Cole Tisdale. Tisdale went on to stop eight of the final ten shots faced from the Silvertips.
The Americans are back in action tomorrow at the Toyota Center as they take on the Prince George Cougars in the annual Fred Meyer Teddy Bear Toss. Puck drop is at 6:05 pm.
