Winnipeg Ice News Release

Mikey Milne's 18th goal of the season 50 seconds into the first period started the Winnipeg ICE off on the right foot as they beat the Saskatoon Blades 4-3 Friday night at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.

Jakin Smallwood and Conor Geekie also scored in the first half of the game as the ICE built up a 3-0 lead on their way to their 22nd victory of the season.

Connor McClennon (pictured) scored his WHL leading 20th goal of the season which proved to be the game winning goal as the ICE improve to 14-0-1 on home ice.

The Blades did score twice in the third period to make it close, however ICE goaltender Gage Alexander closed the door making 26 saves.

"We got a huge save at the end of the game" said Head coach James Patrick. "I thought he made some really good saves, I really like how he played."

"I'm confident in myself and I'm confident in this hockey team and I know we're going to bring our best effort every game" said Alexander. "They're a good team and they're going to be hungry again tomorrow so I expect the best from their top guys".

Kyle Crnkovic, Brandon Lisowsky and Jayden Wiens replied for Saskatoon, who are now winless in their last three games and fall to 12-10-1 on the season. Nolan Maier made 25/29 saves.

The ICE and Blades continue their East Division rivalry with a 7:00 start Saturday night once again at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
