Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

Lethbridge, AB - Nate Danielson's third-period short-handed marker stood up as the game-winner as the Brandon Wheat Kings beat the Lethbridge Hurricanes 4-2 on Friday night.

Zakhar Polshakov, Ty Zimmer and Nolan Ritchie added singles for the Wheat Kings, who snapped a three-game losing skid with the victory.

"I thought in the third period it had a real playoff feel to it," said Head Coach Don MacGillivray. "We played the way we wanted in the third period. The first couple of periods here tonight were a bit of a struggle, but we needed just one good period. We played well in the third and scored short-handed. I liked how we battled and got better. We did a lot of good things to finish this one out."

Friday's game featured a festive fifteen minute delay, for the annual Hurricanes Teddy and Toque Toss. Ty Nash's powerplay goal in the first period sent the fur flying. Nash would finish the night with a team high five shots on goal, and was the games second star.

Ethan Kruger was the first star, making 34 saves for his seventh win of the season.

"Kruger looked exactly like he did in the Hub," added MacGillivray. "He was real solid tonight, square to the shooters and calm. He covered pucks up and looked confident around his next. He was the difference for us."

The Wheats Kings will look to finish off the road trip with back-to-back victories on Saturday night with their first trip to Medicine Hat since 2020.

Catch the game on Bounce 96.1 and the iHeartRadio app starting with the Drummonds Farm Services pre-game show at 7:45 MB time.
