January 5, 2019 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Everett Silvertips News Release

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Zack Andrusiak scored in his debut but the Everett Silvertips dropped their first loss in regulation in 17 games as the Tri-City Americans rallied, 3-2 over the Silvertips before 3,809 fans in WHL action on Friday at Toyota Center.

The Silvertips, building a 2-0 lead early in the game, had goals from Andrusiak and Jackson Berezowski while additional newcomer Justyn Gurney earned an assist in his Silvertips debut. Blake Stevenson capped the Americans rally with a go-ahead goal in the third period and Beck Warm turned in 35 saves.

UP NEXT: The Tips will try to rebound on home ice Saturday night, a 7:05pm (KRKO / Tips App / WHL Live) rematch against Tri-City in downtown Everett. Tickets for Saturday's game, along with a Sunday 4:05pm home game against Kamloops, are available at www.everettsilvertips.com/tickets.

Andrusiak, picked up in a trade on New Year's Day from the Seattle Thunderbirds, needed only 3:51 into the game to notch his first as a Silvertip and 28th of the season when he curled to the right post on a feed from Bryce Kindopp and stashed the puck behind Warm's glove side.

Reece Vitelli then sprung Jackson Berezowski off the rush for his 9th goal of the season, whose wrist shot from the right circle zipped through Warm's five hole 7:12 into the game for a 2-0 lead. The Tips had an excellent opportunity to blow the lead to 3-0, but Warm stayed with Max Patterson's deke on a breakaway attempt, and the Americans began their rally late in the first period.

Krystof Hrabik, returning from the World Juniors, stashed a one-timer from the right circle on a power play with 1:03 left in the first to get Tri-City on the board. Aaron Hyman then bolted for the right circle at 3:32 of the second period and buried a loose puck past Dustin Wolf to tie the game.

Tri-City seized the lead with 4:29 left in the second when Riley Sawchuk found Stevenson at the net, unchecked, and re-directed his eighth goal of the season past Wolf at the top of the crease.

The Silvertips responded with 17 shots on goal in the third period and nearly tied the game on a Max Patterson wrap-around attempt, but Tri-City worked the puck to the Silvertips zone for the last 20 seconds of the game.
