
Wheat Kings Erupt against T-Birds

Brandon, MB. - The Brandon Wheat Kings snapped a 4-game losing streak Friday night with a convincing 7-3 victory over the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds at Westoba Place.
The line of Stelio Mattheos, Cole Reinhardt and Luka Burzan combined for ten points as the Wheat Kings jumped out to a 6-1 second period lead and never looked back.
Burzan, the game's first star, led the charge with three goals and two assists, Reinhardt had two goals and three points while Mattheos - who returned to the lineup after serving a three game Western Hockey League suspension had two helpers.
Connor Gutenberg and Chase Hartje rounded out the scoring for the Wheat Kings, who improved to 16-14-3-3.
Noah Philp scored twice in a losing cause for the Thunderbirds, who outshot Brandon 40-35.
Netminder Jiri Patera, in his first game since returning from representing his native country at the World Junior Hockey Championships in Vancouver, made 37 saves for the win.
As for special teams - the Wheat Kings were 2 for 4 on the powerplay while Seattle was 1 for 1 with the man advantage.
By scoring seven goals Friday, fans in attendance will have a chance to take advantage of the Wheat Kings three ticket promotions.
In addition to saving 50% off online pizza orders at Dominos (using the Promo Code WK5) on Saturday, fans can save 6 cents off per litre of fuel at any Heritage Co-op gas bar on Saturday.
As well, ticket holders will save $7 off any Dinner Buffet at Aaltos in the Canad Inns Brandon for the next week.
Friday's game featured a special post game Family Skate, presented by The Home Depot and Q Country Radio.
The Wheat Kings return to action Sunday night when they take on the Blades in Saskatoon. Brandon's next home game is Tuesday night when Portland pays a visit.
Tuesday is another "2 for Tuesday" which means fans will receive a "free" ticket to the game when they purchase another at regular price. In addition, the Keystone Centre will be offering a number of concession specials for the game.
Tickets to the game, which will be the Hawks' first game in Brandon in two years, go back on sale at 10am Saturday at the Keystone Centre box office. Fans can also order online at keystonecentre.com or by calling (204) 726-3555.
