Spokane Chiefs News Release
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs welcomed back Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Ty Smith, and Filip Kral Friday night by collecting their eighth win in their last nine home games as they topped the visiting Kamloops Blazers 4-1. The trio made their presence felt in their first game back as they each checked in with a point on the scoresheet.
The two sides traded power play goals in the first period, the first of which came from Spokane's Riley Woods, who was able to push one home from just behind the end line at 12:43 after fellow forward, and former Kamloops Blazer, Luc Smith's rebound and put-back efforts came up empty.
Kamloops answered at 18:42 when Kobe Mohr was able to convert on a 5-on-4 power play with Nolan Reid in the penalty box for interference.
The Chiefs tacked on a pair of goals in the second, striking first at 1:28 when Jake McGrew handled the puck up the right side, crossing in front of the net to backhand one past Kamloops goalie and Vegas Golden Knights' prospect Dylan Ferguson to make it 2-1 Spokane. In his first game back from World Juniors, defenseman Filip Kral gave the Chiefs their third goal of the night at 7:02. Box Score
Luke Toporowski added on an empty netter for the Chiefs at 19:32 to close out the 4-1 victory for Spokane. The Chiefs dominated the shots on goal through the first two periods and ended the night with the edge, 35 to 21.
Chiefs goaltender Bailey Brkin allowed just one goal, a power play goal, and ended the night 20-for-21. Ferguson finished the night 31-for-34, allowing two goals on the power play. The Chiefs converted two of their six power play opportunities while Kamloops made good on just one of their three chances.
