Medicine Hat Tigers News Release
Medicine Hat, AB - After winning their last five games, the Medicine Hat Tigers' fell 4-3 to the Calgary Hitmen in the CHL Saturday Showcase.
The Tigers had a 2-1 lead midway through the second period but the Hitmen scored 11 seconds apart to take the lead and hold on.
Hitmen veteran forward Jake Kryski opened the scoring early in the first period. Shortly after, Logan Christensen forced a turnover in the Hitmen's end and capitalized on his individual effort to tie the game back up. Christensen's goal was his 4th goal of the season.
Early into the second stanza on a play from James Hamblin, Tyler Preziuso scored his 16th goal of the season which was his 100th career WHL point.
Midway through the period, the Hitmen scored their two quick goals to retake the lead. Bryce Bader and Luke Coleman were the goal scorers.
In the final frame, veteran forward Carson Focht scored to make it a 4-2 game.
The Tabbies continued to push and late in the game after making a huge save, Tigers goaltender Jordan Hollett left the net to give his team another attacker. Corson Hopwo connected with Hamblin to set up Ryan Jevne to score his 20th goal of the season. Jevne's goal brought the Tigers within one.
Unfortunately, the Tabbies were unable to find another goal and they lost their first game since returning from the holiday break 4-3. The Orange and Black are now 22-16-1-2 and will host the Regina Pats on Friday night at the Canalta Centre.
