Alliant Energy Field passes inspection

May 14, 2006 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Clinton LumberKings News Release

Alliant Energy Field passed its yearly inspection by Major League Baseball Officials. The inspection took place in April and the results were just issued to the LumberKings' front office.

Alliant Energy Field underwent a $3.7 million renovation during the off-season. Improvements and additions to Alliant Energy Field included a brand new playing field with a new irrigation and drainage system. The renovation included a new LumberKings' clubhouse with an indoor batting tunnel connected to the clubhouse. The former LumberKings' clubhouse then became the visitor's clubhouse. The umpires also received a new dressing room area. A new lighting system was also put in after the 2002 season.

The renovation of Alliant Energy Field was necessary to keep professional baseball in Clinton for years to come. Alliant Energy Field had fallen below Major League Baseball required specifications and standards for a single-A ballpark.
